One misty morning, the first of November 1962, a NWP committee visited the performance test in Westercelle, Germany. There was a 3 1/2-yr-old Holstein stallion that met their approval. They hoped that the horse, called Farn, would generate fine daughters, broodmares that would help upgrade Dutch breeding. The NWP committee was convinced that the Arabian influence in his type en pedigree would produce excellent sporthorses. We all know that Farn did so, and even more.

Farn was imported by the NWP from Holstein at the age of 3. He is the sire to the Gelderland elite stallion Garant, and the famous KWPN stallion Nimmerdor, who is the only approved son in the KWPNs first 10 years of existence. Farn was sold very cheaply because he was of the older type. Discovery of the extreme jumping capabilities of his offspring brought a change, and several of his sons were licensed by the KWPN.

Farn was an excellent producer of show jumping horses, once crossed on lighter Dutch mares. Through Farn, Nimmerdor traces his ancestry back to Achil --- founder of the Holstein breed. Farn was declared a ' preferant ' , which is the highest award for stallion recognition. Farn sired any number of International Show Jumping Horses but Nimmerdor remains his most famous son of all.
