After being reserve champion of the stallion testing in 1983 Wellington went on to place 3rd in the National stallion competition in 1985, 2nd in the 1987 competition, and 1st in the stallion competition category C. He also starred in dressage at Z-level and jumped nationally. He earned his "keur" predicate by siring many "ster" and "keur" mares, and approved stallions like Emilion, Farrington, and Glennridge. He has also sired many international show jumpers like VDL Jupiter, Jerome, SP Deka and What a Game. Wellington has also sired top dressage horses like Bolvorms Ceylon and Luxaflex.
